Zoned

For those of you who don’t know, we are in Belize.  You may even know that we missed our plane Saturday morning, in case my poem/rhyme didn’t make sense.  Here’s a photo journal if we have the photos.

We were suppose to catch the 7am connecting flight to Dallas Saturday morning.  However due to poor planning, we barely missed the flight.  The next flight to Belize is the red-eye flight connecting in Miami.  We were always curious to see how our kids would handle the red-eye flight.  Looks like we get to find out.

The kids had fun at night at the airport.  We had to keep them up for the 9:25pm red-eye flight.  They were barely holding up.  When we get on the plane, Caris falls asleep in my arms rather quickly.  It is hard to hold her the whole time for almost five hours. Caleb, however, does not do so well.  The T.V. is on the whole time during the flight, and Caleb cannot peel his eyes off the television.  He’s captivated by it.  He only sleeps for 2 hours.  And the one rule we have with Caleb that we forgot about…  don’t mess with his sleep.

IMG_6129

We have a five hour layover in Miami, so we’re hoping Caleb and Caris would just sleep at the airport. Caris does alright, although it is difficult for her to go and stay asleep.  Caleb, again, has trouble. It doesn’t help that there are birds flying INSIDE the airport.  But he just can’t sleep well outside his dark room.

IMG_6146 <— See the birds?

Both kids are awake on the Miami to Belize flight.  It’s morning time for them even though they only got a fraction of the sleep they normally get.  And they’re hungry and it’s breakfast time.  And it’s only a 2 hour flight.  No point trying 2 hours to get Caleb to sleep for 5 minutes.  Caris still tries to find time to get some sleep whenever she can though.

The flight to Belize is not the final destination though.  Oh no.  We still have to fly to Ambergris Caye.  Big planes are not needed.  In fact big planes won’t fit on that airport.

I know some might be scared of these little airplanes.  But they are fun and exhilarating.  The trip doesn’t end there though.  A boat ride to the resort, and we should finally get there.

Now it’s time to lounge around.  It’s been a long trip to get here.

And it’s hot!

IMG_6186

Very hot!

But we’re here.  And sometimes we just need to chill and zone out.  Guess what we’re doing here.

A Present From Caris to Daddy

Caleb likes to give me things.  He leaves cars by my bed when I get home from work.  Caris also likes to leave presents for me.  Actually, this one was for mommy, but mommy gave it to me.

Take a closer look.

No, take a real close look.

There’s a string inside her poop.  That’s because she picks up everything on the floor and puts it into her mouth.  And eventually it comes out here.  But look at this sweet poop.  This thing measures at least 6 to 7 inches.  That’s one big poop for a baby.  You can even tell the poop was from different meals.  How awesome is that.

Kiddie Kandids

Went in for our family picture this morning.  Got some pictures of the family.  Got some pictures of Caleb & Caris.  And then got some pictures for Caris’ 9 month.  Here they are.

9-Month Shots

Caris got her 9-month shots today.  Her thighs are sporting some Charlie Brown blue bandaids.  Caleb got his influenza booster shot.  It’s a “I’m really out of it” benadryl day for him.

OK, the 9-month stats for our baby girl…

Length – 28.5” (80%)

Weight – 18lbs, 6.5oz (45%)… and everybody tells us she looks so chubby!  Maybe it’s just an Asian thing to tell somebody their baby looks chubby.

Crawling Caris

So our little girl started crawling right before 6 months.  Well, kind of.  She did this modified form of crawling… she looked like a caterpillar.  Pretty much at the same time as this crawling developed, she began sitting up really well.  So, I started letting her just sit.  She seemed to really enjoy this upright position.  I didn’t let her practice tummy time as much.  So, then about a week ago, I started putting her back on her tummy more often.  Caris was not so happy about this change.  But, now she’s back to practicing her crawling.  She’s finally starting to get more control of her mobility, though she’s not yet doing full on hand-knee crawling yet.

“KICK”

Caleb’s been taking a soccer class since mid-July.  One more Saturday class left.  He’s the youngest in this mommy/daddy & me class.

Brother & Sister

Caleb & Caris really do like each other.  It’s pretty cute to see.  Caleb gets very concerned if he thinks I might be forgetting “mei-mei” (little sister in Mandarin) in the car.  Caris always flashes a big grin when she sees “ge-ge” (big brother).

They’re even starting to sleep the same way at the same time.  Mind you, they’re in different rooms.  Strange.

Caleb still does get jealous that Caris does certain things he doesn’t get to do. And, he’s not so happy that Caris is now taking his toys and exploring them with her mouth.  His favorite phrase with her now is, “Sister, no… Stop!  Mei-mei, no, stop.  Mine. Caleb’s.”

Kiddie Kandids, 2009-08-10

So we’ve been taking Caleb & Caris to Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us for their major pictures.  It just so happened that we got Caleb’s 2 year pictures, and Caris’ 6 month pictures done at the same time.  So we have to take pictures with them as well.  Color & picture coordinated, here they are.

Day Late, Dollar Short: Happy Birthday, Mommy

Happy 31st birthday, Yvonne!  Yes, her real name.

A day late, and a dollar short, but it’s still here.  Yvonne’s birthday gift was a break from the kiddos.  At the day spa of course.  I think getting away from the kids might have been enough, but I might as well send her away to something she’ll enjoy as well.

While she was over there, Caleb, Caris & I were scheming things at home.  A surprise for when Mommy comes back.

Here’s the setup.  Letters.

If you’re interested in watching a 11+ minute video, here it is of me and Caleb finishing up the rest.

(Video coming soon after it finishes uploading.  Only 4+ hours.  I need FiOS)

Here’s the finished product.
